FAQ
What's the difference between freeze-dried beef liver and desiccated beef liver?
Smidge® freeze-dried Beef Liver capsules have higher levels of nutrients than the desiccated supplements you will see on the market. Here's the difference:
Freeze-drying relies on cold temperatures instead of heat. According to research by the American Institute for Cancer Research, freeze-dried foods retain the vast majority of the vitamins and minerals found in the original food.*
Desiccated is simply another term for "dehydrated." This is the use of heat and air circulation to remove moisture from a product. Most modern-day forms of desiccated beef liver tablets are made with low heat. Dehydration can break down vitamins and minerals during the preservation process and retain less nutritional value (compared to freeze-dried food).
What nutrients are in beef liver?
Beef liver is high in protein and naturally-occurring vitamin A, vitamin B12 and copper. It is also a good source of riboflavin (vitamin B2) and folate (vitamin B9). And it contains choline, selenium and trace amounts of heme iron.
Do these Beef Liver capsules have a strong odor?
You don't have to plug your nose before your dose. ;) Our customers find Smidge® Beef Liver capsules convenient and pleasant.
Where is the beef liver sourced?
The magical, rolling pastures of New Zealand! The cows that help make this supplement graze only on vibrant green grass that sprouts from rich soil in New Zealand. Here's more about our product sourcing and quality.
Are Smidge® Beef Liver capsules free of common allergens?
